group.jpg (105302 bytes)A group photo of quite a few, but not all, of the individuals who attended this year's national meeting and events. There was a wonderful turnout this year with about 80 people and 60 dogs, the weather was good and the fields held a lot of wild pheasants for the trial. The conformation show was held in an indoor arena in the clubhouse, the catered meals and awards ceremony held in the banquet room. For the field events, the competitors and gallery would meet at the clubhouse, the horn was blown and everyone would caravan to the fields where the field trial and the T.A.N. were to be held.
The weekend began with the conformation show on Friday afternoon, followed by the membership meeting, a catered meal and guest speakers that evening. Saturday was devoted to the field trial, with the Open Class dogs running first followed by the Novice Class entrants. The trial was run as it is in France with each consecutive dog covering new ground and the bird numbers were such that all entrants had the opportunity to encounter game.  An awards banquet and meal followed the trial on Saturday evening, which ended with an auction of generously donated items. The T.A.N. (natural ability test) was held on Sunday. It was a whirlwind of activity and everything ran very smoothly, thanks to all those who helped with the organization and details of the weekend.
A huge thanks goes out to all the membership for their support in attending and participating, to the Judges for their expertise and to Todd Kellam of the UKC for being in attendance and for working with our club in getting the field trial rules written, approved and in place for this historic first. It has taken our club a number of years to get the European style rules in place so that this club could offer a proper forum for our dogs and members could begin trialing. The success, the outstanding results and the efficiency of this first trial are a credit to all those involved.
