Own a french brittany or looking for one? You've found the right place! These are the original brittany spaniels, the Epagneul Breton. Bird dogs and gun dogs - perfect for the foot hunter! Epagneul Bretons are staunch pointing dogs with natural hunting ability, used for hunting all types of upland birds including pheasant, grouse, quail, partridge. French brittanys are close working, highly intelligent, intensely loyal and they are as at home in the field as on the couch! French brittany spaniels are the perfect companion in the field and in the home - they are calm in nature and smaller in stature than other pointing breeds. indices Is there a difference between an American brittany and a french brittany? Yes. Link to our French Brittany page for a full explanation and we've also included some history.
This association, formed in 1997, is the parent club of the breed in this country and has been designated as the UKC's provisional National Breed Club for the Epagneul Breton. We invite you to become a member of our club, see our club Membership page for an online application. You'll receive our magazine, full of Epagneul Breton information, French Brittany pictures, articles, training and veterinary tips, and you'll be invited to all of the club's events - fun hunts, foot trials, specialty shows and hunting tests and our annual event - all designed according to European trials with the foot hunter in mind! Local and Regional chapters of the club are forming, be sure to check the listing for one in your area.
Throughout the world, other than in
the United States, this dog is called the Epagneul Breton. You will notice this name being
used in various places throughout our literature in an effort to acquaint Americans with
their official breed designation as the Epagneul Breton. We have recently been successful
in our efforts to get the breed separated in this country, and though the dogs are
commonly known as French Brittanys, they are now registered with the UKC as Epagneul
Bretons.
If you presently own a French Brittany, visit our Registration
page for information on registering your dog. We are aligned with European Epagneul
Breton clubs and we subscribe to the country of origin's methods for the breed. The
official breed standard adopted and utilized by the UKC was written based on the FCI
standard, the international standard for the Epagneul Breton. Please be sure to
visit our standard page which includes visual aids.
We subscribe to the French and European traditions that will preserve this breed's type in America as it has been preserved for generations in France, which means performance plus conformation. Thus we sponsor and encourage both working and conformation events. Within this site you will find recent event information, OFA and PennHip listings, past training, health and educational articles from our color magazine posted and lots of other informational links to visit. deposit
We are dedicated to promoting the breed and protecting the qualities and traits that make them such an excellent choice for hunting and for the home! Like to take a look at some of the members' dogs?
